Description: Chemical, biologic, biochemical, and psychological processes as a foundation for the understanding of alterations in health. The structural and functional pathophysiology of alterations in health; selected therapeutics considered.

1. Utilize medical terminology as it applies to the pathophysiologic basis for alterations in health. (I-VIII) 2. Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanisms of normal anatomic structure, physiological function, and biochemical processes within the human body. (II-VIII) 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanisms of altered anatomic structure and physiological function within the human body. (II-VIII) 4. Explain signs and symptoms of diseases and their relationship to specific pathophysiological changes in the human body. (II- VIII) 5. Describe the relationships between basic pathophysiology and selected diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. (II-VIII) 6. Explain the basis for actions that could be taken to avoid pathophysiologic states or conditions or to reduce the risks of occurrence of pathophysiologic states or conditions. (II- VIII)
