Description: Introduction to the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and tools currently used on healthcare Information Technology (IT) projects, with particular emphasis on software development. Experience with application development and testing tools in a project-based lab setting.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
  1. Describe the uses and benefits of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies in a Healthcare IT project environment. (I)
  2. Name the major SDLC phases and discuss the purpose of each phase. (I)
  3. Compare and contrast the rationale for Waterfall, Agile Development, and Scrum methodologies for various healthcare IT projects. (I)
  4. Develop SDLC Planning Phase documents for a healthcare IT project. (II)
  5. Create SDLC Analysis phase deliverables. (III)
  6. Construct SDLC Design elements for a healthcare IT project. (IV)
  7. Build and debug a healthcare IT software application using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tool. (V)
  8. Apply a performance testing tool as part of a healthcare IT software development project. (VI)
  9. Implement a Healthcare IT project and discuss the potential activities during this SDLC phase. (VII)
  10. Demonstrate the SDLC Maintenance and Review process of a healthcare IT project. (VIII)
