Description: Introduction to the Caterpillar organization and product line, basic shop safety, and shop operation. Includes computer operations and service information systems.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe the Caterpillar organization and its product line. (I)
2. Identify basic shop equipment, and explain how to use shop equipment safely. (II)
3. Identify and explain the uses of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, pulling tools, and lifting tools. (III)
4. Identify and explain the uses of various types of connective devices. (IV)
5. Identify potential dangers from hazardous materials, and explain the rules and regulations imposed by OSHA and the EPA to insure safe handling of hazardous materials. (V)
6. Describe uses of computers and service information systems in the Caterpillar shop. (VI)
