1. Apply the theory of contraction and release. (I)
2. Demonstrate correct placement and alignment for dance. (I, II) 3. Apply basic jazz dance technique, theories, and styles. (I, II, III, IV) 4. Utilize the theory of the body`s relationship to gravity and the center of gravity used in jazz dance. (I, II, III, IV, V) 5. Perform basic locomotor and axial movements in the center and across the floor. (II, III) 6. Practice the basic elements of dance: space, time, and energy with particular attention to rhythm and syncopation. (IV) 7. Practice basic rhythmic analysis and the impact of poly-rhythms and syncopation on jazz dance. (IV) | |||
