Description: Basic conversational Spanish for teachers, counselors, administrators and other school personnel. Continuation of SPA119, expanding into secondary and post- secondary educational settings. Emphasis on basic sentence structure, pronunciation and vocabulary



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Recite Spanish words and phrases using standard sound patterns and intonation. (I)
2. Ask and answer questions about past actions, events and conditions related to the school setting. (II)
3. Describe personal preferences, likes and dislikes in Spanish. (III)
4. Use Spanish vocabulary to discuss extra-curricular activities. (IV)
5. Use Spanish vocabulary to discuss alternative educational opportunities. (V)
6. Give basic advice and suggestions regarding academic performance and educational goals. (VI)
7. Use Spanish vocabulary to discuss college preparation. (VII)
8. Use Spanish vocabulary related to adult and continuing education. (VIII)
9. Compare and contrast educational opportunities in the past, present and future. (IX)
10. Describe similarities and differences between Hispanic and Anglo educational cultures. (X)
