Description: Continued study of the Navajo language. Continued practice and development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Emphasis on fluency and accuracy of the Navajo language. Includes continued study of Navajo people and cultures



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Pronounce Navajo words using correct intonation and stress. (I)
2. Use correct Navajo syntax in sentences and questions. (II)
3. Converse in Navajo areas of immediate interest and familiarity. (I-IV)
4. Create dialogues in Navajo in given topics. (I-IV)
5. Respond appropriately to simple spoken Navajo orally and in writing. (I-VI)
6. Answer questions and express opinions about a variety of topics in Navajo orally and in writing. (I-VI)
7. Write a composition of at least 300 words using correct Navajo structure. (V, VI)
8. Paraphrase Navajo literary and journalistic readings accurately orally and in writing. (I-VI)
9. Listen to and interpret elements of selected Navajo-language musical selections orally and in writing. (I-VI)
10. Watch and interpret elements of Navajo-language film and television programs orally and in writing. (I-VI)
11. Take dictation in Navajo. (IV-VI)
12. Identify and describe current events and issues dealing with Navajo people, language, and culture orally and in writing. (I-VII)
