Description: History and evolution of herbs for healing applications. Preparation, usage, and effects of certain herbs used for healing purposes. Basic literature review skills in the area of herbal medicine.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Explain the evolution of herbal medicine from ancient history to the present. (I)
2. Explain the effects of herbs on various body systems. (II)
3. Describe the various ways herbs are prepared for healing purposes. (III)
4. Prepare an herbal tincture. (III)
5. List and describe some of the more popular herbs that have been reputed to support, tonify, and heal. (III)
6. Identify the tools to do effective literature reviews in the field of herbal medicine. (IV)
