Description: Basic conversational Spanish for health care workers or students. Emphasis on basic sentence structure, pronunciation and vocabulary used in health care settings

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Recite Spanish words, using standard sound patterns and intonation. (I) 2. State Spanish greetings, introductions and farewells to clients. (II) 3. Use Spanish vocabulary in describing parts of the body. (III) 4. Describe dates, times, and setting appointments in Spanish. (IV) 5. Explain and direct patients through routine medical procedures. (V) 6. Use Spanish vocabulary to converse with or about family members. (VI) 7. Use basic Spanish questions in medical settings and situations. (VII) 8. Use Spanish vocabulary related to patient feeding, diet, and care. (VIII) 9. Use Spanish vocabulary in describing specific types of medications and their use. (IX) 10. Describe medical conditions and their symptoms in Spanish. (X) 11. Describe similarities and differences between Hispanic and Anglo health care cultures. (XI)
