Description: Small cooperative group setting used to discuss readings to enhance comprehension, oral communication, and problem solving skills. Emphasis on evaluative reading and thinking skills as applied to overall job performance. Previewing; determining main points and purpose of general and work-related materials; interpreting charts and graphs



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Using reading, participate actively in group problem-solving discussions in the workplace. (I-VI)
2. Evaluate constructively the analysis of reading materials by peers. (I-VI)
3. Develop, implement, and complete an individualized reading plan. (I)
4. Preview, find main ideas, draw conclusions, and synthesize information from work-related reading materials. (II)
5. Evaluate controversial technical or professional materials. (III)
6. Interpret tables, graphs, flow charts, maps, and timelines. (IV)
7. Solve basic arithmetic and simple logic word problems by reading. (V)
8. Apply reading skills in solving a work-related production problem. (VI)
