Description: Develop safe and effective hiking skills. Essentials and requirements for safe hiking; proper hiking clothing and attire; impact of hiking on the environment.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe the relation of frequency, intensity, and duration to physical training. (I)
2. Demonstrate various hiking paces for walking uphill, downhill, and on the level. (I)
3. List and describe requirements and supplies needed for hiking safely. (II)
4. Describe and wear proper clothing and shoes for a given hiking activity. (III)
5. Describe the impact of hiking on the environment, and how to protect the environment during hiking activities. (IV)
