Description: Nursing and critical thinking strategies for complex holistic needs of high-risk clients with multi- system health alterations. Includes perinatal, newborn, pediatric, and adult clients in acute care settings. Continuation of role development of the professional nurse. Integrates concepts of nutrition, communication, health promotion, and advanced pathophysiology. Application of previous knowledge of physical, biologic, social, and nursing sciences

1. Describe nursing strategies that promote a therapeutic environment for adult, pediatric newborn, and perinatal clients with selected health alterations. (I)
2. Incorporate critical thinking skills in plan of care modifications to meet needs of clients with multi-system problems. (II, III, IV)
3. Appraise standards of care which safeguard client health and well being. (II, IV, VI)
4. Modify plan of care based on developmental and learning needs in selected client populations. (II, III, IV, V)
5. Construct holistic teaching plan for clients and families with complex needs. (III, IV)
6. Create holistic plan of care for high-risk adult clients and their families. (III, IV)
7. Create holistic plan of care for high-risk pediatric clients and their families. (III, IV)

10. Apply advanced pathophysiological concepts to care of clients with selected health alterations. (IV)

12. Integrate health strategies related to health promotion and maintenance and disease prevention. (IV, V)
13. Apply nutrition concepts which support wellness and therapeutic nutrition needs for selected health alterations. (IV, V)
14. Integrate professional nursing standards in plan of care for adult, pediatric, perinatal, newborn clients, and their families with high risk alteration in health. (IV, VI)
15. Compare and contrast roles and responsibilities of unlicensed assistive personnel, practical nurse and registered nurse. (VI)
