Description: Provides basic pharmacology knowledge and skills to administer medications. Emphasis placed on developing the role of the nurse using critical thinking skills for safe practice in the administration of medications

1. Describe the primary legislation affecting the regulation of drugs in the US. (I)
2. Describe types and classifications of specific drugs. (II)
3. Describe the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs. (III)
4. Demonstrate safe drug dosage calculation and administration of medications. (IV)
5. Explain the nurse`s role in teaching clients about medications. (V)
6. Explain the influence life span and cultures have on medication administration. (VI)
7. Demonstrate safe techniques of venipuncture. (VII)
