Description: Assessment skills for the school health setting. Assessment and management of selected school health problems including abdominal pain, head and spinal cord injuries, and environmental hazards.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Perform a basic pediatric assessment appropriate for the school health office setting. (I)
2. Demonstrate the proper method of abdominal auscultation of the school-aged child. (I, II)
3. Identify possible causes and recommended treatments of abdominal pain in the school-aged child. (II)
4. Identify clinical manifestations and management of head and spinal cord injuries in the school-aged child. (III)
5. Describe environmental hazards in the school setting. (IV)
6. Explain appropriate treatment of insect and reptile bites and stings. (IV)
