Description: Operation, scope, and career opportunities in the music business. Focuses on music in the areas of entrepreneurship, visionary development and the collaboration process.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Examine and critique the inside of the music business entrepreneurship. (I)
2. Differentiate between legal entities such as sole proprietorships, partnerships, and limited liability corporations and describe the uses of each of them. (I)
3. Create an individual music business plan, gather ideas and information to develop the plan and explore its potential for becoming a viable music business (I)
4. List and summarize entrepreneurship skills needed in the music business. (II)
5. Assess and explain the difficulties, compromises, and rewards of the collaboration process. (II)
6. Identify and classify types of strategies for decision-making and team building. (II)
7. Identify and evaluate trends in music marketing, promotion and advertising techniques. (I)
8. Design, explain and present a marketing strategy for music business. (I)
9. Identify and predict operational problems common to small business.(II)
10. Identify and evaluate operational challenges in music business entrepreneurship. (III)
11. Formulate measurable goals for a music business operational plan. (III)
12. Identify planning and management techniques used in daily business operations. (III)
