Description: Arranging for larger ensembles, including strings, jazz ensemble, woodwinds and synthesizers. Detailed study of harmony, form and orchestration.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Construct advanced harmonic concepts. (I)
2. Distinguish the timbres on all instruments and voices. (II)
3. Transpose from concept pitch. (II)
4. Assemble voicings for like instruments and mixed instrument combinations. (III)
5. Construct voicings for brass, saxophones, strings and woodwinds. (IV)
6. Demonstrate linear approach to voicing. (V)
7. Analyze and experiment with form. (VI)
8. Arrange either a jazz ensemble or pop ensemble chart. (VII)
