Description: Defining new trading realities of European Community trading bloc. Emphasis on preparing U.S. companies for successful trading with European countries and its trading partners

4. Describe the origins and consequences of the Common Agricultural Policy. (I)

6. Assess the challenges and difficulties facing European countries as they forge a single market. (I)
7. Identify opportunities and risks that American businesses face in European trade. (II)
8. Describe the effects which the 1992 program has on the business communities of the European Community`s newer members. (II)
9. Explain the basic cultural issues affecting U.S. European commercial cooperation. (III)
10. Define the options for structuring a European operation. (III)
11. Identify corporation modifications which may be necessary to execute a European joint venture. (III)
12. Define the roll of ISO 9000 standards in the development of EC trade strategies. (III)
13. Explain the background of the postwar reconstruction of Europe, as well as the events which culminated in 1992. (IV)
14. Relate the history of the ethnic migrations that settled Europe over the time. (IV)
15. Identify important events and rulers from the accession of Christianity during the Roman Empire and in Central Europe after Charlemagne. (IV)
16. Review the Holy Roman Empire, and the French, English and Spanish monarchies. (IV)
17. Identify major historic conquests and division of the region. (IV)
18. Review the history of The French Revolution, The Reformation, and the development of constitutional monarchies and parliamentary democracies. (IV)
19. List the circumstances leading up to World War I and the post war agreements that may have set the stage for the Great Depression and World War II. (IV)
20. Review the history of World War II, the growth of authoritarianism and absolute governments and the Genocide which was perpetrated. (IV)
21. Identify major geographical and topographical phenomena of Europe. (V)
22. Identify the various countries and regions of Europe. (V)
23. List major cities and economic centers of Europe. (V)
24. Identify opportunities arising from European integration. (VI)
25. Explain the importance of decreased border delays to improved intra-European commerce. (VI)
26. List industries in which Europe has traditionally enjoyed comparative advantage. (VI)
27. Identify the technology level of voice, data and video communications used in business in this region. (VII)
28. Demonstrate the steps necessary to connect to the Internet, and send and receive a message. from an EC (VII)
29. Utilize a list search to locate a group or individual involved in international business to communicate with via the Internet. (VII)
30. Read the pathway notation included with each transmission in order to trace the route of your Internet message. (VII)
