Description: Introductory course which gives tips on trading with Latin America, including Mexico, and the countries in the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI). Includes cultural, social and geographic overviews of the region in addition to business issues. Key focus on small to medium-sized firms as importer/exporter to and from the region

2. Explain the complex microenvironments in major regions of Latin America. (I)
3. Analyze the cultural considerations for U.S./Latin American trade. (I)
4. Identify the major issues relating to the Latin American debt crisis of the 1980`s and its effect on Inter-American trade. (II)
5. Identify U.S. programs that permit duty free import from the area. (II)
6. Describe the economic and commercial relationships among Latin American countries, the Caribbean Islands, and the United States. (Unit 2)
7. Analyze and evaluate areas of opportunity for U.S. exporters. (III)
8. Identify investment opportunities in Latin America. (III)
9. Explain the current and anticipated impact of NAFTA Trade Agreement. (IV)
10. Analyze and evaluate areas of opportunity for U.S. exporters. (IV)
11. Identify the types of voice, data and video communications used in business in this region. (V)
12. Demonstrate the steps necessary to connect to the Internet, and send and receive a message from a Latin American country. (V)
13. Utilize a list search to locate a group or individual involved in international business to communicate with via the Internet. (V)
14. Read the pathway notation included with each transmission in order to trace the route of your Internet message. (V)
15. Identify and analyze key issues among and between NAFTA trading partners. (VI)
