Description: Designed to provide clinical experience in the medical facility. Emphasis on application of advanced patient-care skills. Includes incorporation of new skills into a work assignment and development of working relationships in an expanded role.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Apply proper techniques of safe patient-care practices to all performed procedures. (I)
2. Perform glucose point-of-care testing using semi-automated equipment. (II)
3. Apply correct sterile technique when performing dressing changes. (III)
4. Perform catheterization using proper technique on male and female patients. (IV)
5. Perform phlebotomy procedures using proper techniques. (V)
6. Perform standard electrocardiograms (EKGs) and prepare data for review by the medical practitioner. (VI)
7. Apply ethical guidelines and legal concepts to clinical behavior. (VII)
8. Demonstrate effective communication techniques. (VIII)
9. Establish cooperative working relationships with health care team members. (IX)
10. Apply proper technique for the removal of peripheral intravenous lines and saline locks. (X, XI)
