Description: Application of basic donor phlebotomy to obtain blood from donors in a community blood center setting including preparation, operation of equipment, and shipping and packaging procedures.

1. Apply quality assurance in donor collection. (I)
2. Apply Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and laboratory safety in donor phlebotomy. (II)
3. Prepare, inspect, and label appropriate donor collection container set. (III)
4. Perform donor collection. (IV)
5. Recognize adverse reactions and apply remedies. (V)
6. Perform post-collection duties and donor care. (VI)
7. Perform evacuated tube system (ETS) venipuncture. (VII)
8. Perform packaging and shipping of blood components. (VIII)
9. Follow donor center policies and procedures. (IX)
