Description: Further development and application of basic woodworking skills. Complex projects with emphasis on planning and calculating and buying needed materials. Introduction of jointery, complex fitting, more advanced finishing, and wood carving

1. Describe design techniques and procedures and prepare a design layout for a given project. (I)
2. Calculate materials needed and their cost for a given project. (I)
3. Identify and describe the uses of various types of hardwoods, plywoods, particle board, flake board, and softwoods. (II)
4. Describe and demonstrate the jointery techniques used for fastening and strengthening basic wood joints. (III)
5. Name five types of glue, explain their selection, application and clamping techniques. (IV)
6. Describe and demonstrate the uses for metal fasteners. (V)
7. List the basic steps in finishing a piece of furniture. (VI)
8. Demonstrate the use and application of wood finishing techniques. (VI)
9. Demonstrate the safe use of hand tools, and stationary and portable power tools. (VII)
10. Identify and explain the use of power and hand tools and their attachments. (VIII)
11. Select and purchase materials, and plan and build a quality product in a given time frame.
