Description: Elements of maintenance and repair shop management. Includes shop tools, equipment, overall shop maintenance, shop safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Development of equipment inventory and buyers` guide files

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe different ways that tools and equipment should be organized in a maintenance and repair shop. (I) 2. Describe how the space in a maintenance and repair shop should be appropriated for specific tasks. (I) 3. Identify maintenance and repair shop tools and their specific uses. (I) 4. Explain how to use manuals and buyers` guides when ordering parts and for servicing procedures. (II) 5. Describe appropriate inventory techniques that can be used in a maintenance and repair shop. (II) 6. Relate how to keep maintenance and repair shop records in an organized system that includes stocking, service and repairs, and equipment use. (III) 7. Identify forms that are appropriate in a maintenance and repair shop. (III) 8. Cite Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations that relate to a maintenance and repair shop. (IV) 9. Describe a maintenance and repair shop safety plan that includes the development of a manual, emergency equipment, and fire prevention equipment. (IV)
