Description: Identification and classification of common plants in the Southwest. Study of basic plant structure, growth processes, reproduction and environmental influences on plant growth processes



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe the ways that plants can be classified. (I)
2. Explain the structural parts and essential functions of the plant parts (II)
3. Explain and demonstrate the processes of photosynthesis, respiration, metabolism, and translocation and storage in plant growth. (III)
4. Describe the sexual and vegetative reproduction of plants. (IV)
5. Demonstrate environmental influences on plant growth. (V)
6. Describe plants common to the Southwest. (VI)
7. Classify common plants found in the Southwest according to growth habits, structural form, use, and botanical relationship. (VI)
