Description: Comprehensive recertification for all previously certified Advanced Driver Training (ADT) instructors. Focuses on safety, review of driving skills, comprehension of course dialogue, and instructor presentation skills based on standards established by National Fire Protection Association (1002-Standard for Driver Apparatus); Arizona Department of Transportation, Commercial Drivers License (CDL); General Motors Advanced Driver Training; National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration; and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe the value of the advanced driver training instructor compact. (I)
2. Explain the role and responsibilities of an advanced driver training instructor. (II)
3. Explain the requirements of basic driver preparedness. (III)
4. Describe the lessons reinforced through each of the driving courses. (IV)
5. Complete the general motors advanced driver training written test. (V)
6. Explain the instructor tips for the driving execution courses. (VI)
7. Describe the specifics of the hydraulic brake test. (VII)
8. Describe the ten-step process for performing an air brake test. (VIII)
9. Demonstrate proper use of driver training evaluation forms. (IX)
10. Complete a Daily and Inspection day rig checklist. (X)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
