Description: Survey of the total responsibilities of the facilities organization in manufacturing, business, and government. Includes methods for coordinating the physical workplace with the people and work of the organization



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Define the role of the facilities organization with respect to the company, industry, community, and government. (I, II, IV-VII)
2. Interpret and define common terms used in facilities design and management. (I-VII)
3. Identify the facilities manager`s responsibilities for building and equipment maintenance. (I, IV-VII)
4. Provide examples of how computers are impacting the facilities design and management field. (I, II, VI, VII)
5. Identify, interpret, and apply safety regulations within building, electric, plumbing, mechanical, and fire codes. (II, III, VI)
6. Read and interpret facilities drawings common to the industry. (II, III, VI)
7. Identify and define each the functional building systems. (II-V)
8. Classify facilities with respect to special characteristics. (III-V)
9. Develop a strategic facility plan. (IV, V)
10. Design a facility layout for a small organization. (VI)
