Description: Designed to assess students in the skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to include, mouth-to-mask, bag-valve-mask, cardiac compression, automated external defibrillator (AED), stabilization of adult, infant, and child victims with airway obstruction, respiratory, and cardiac arrest.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate ability to assess needs in an emergency and respond accordingly. (I, II, III, IV, V, VI)
2. Demonstrate proficiency in performing the Heimlich maneuver on adults and children. (II, VI)
3. Demonstrate proficiency in one-rescuer and two-rescuer cardiac arrest management according to current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider guidelines for adults, infants, and children. (III, V, VI)
4. Demonstrate proficient use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) during cardiac arrest management according to current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider guidelines. (IV, VI)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
