Description: Development of technical and professional aspects of diagnostic ultrasound in a hospital or clinical setting at the intermediate level. Ongoing reinforcement and broadening of knowledge base related to hospital procedures and policies. Continued observation, assistance and performance of patient care and sonographic duties under limited supervision.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. In a professional manner, adhere to safety, emergency, and ethical policies and procedures of the ultrasound department and healthcare agency with limited assistance, as needed. (I)
2. Perform image acquisition and processing including storage of completed examinations with limited assistance, as needed. (II)
3. Follow patient care protocols before, during, and after the sonographic examination with limited assistance, as needed. (III)
4. Perform office procedures to include filing, scheduling, billing, report retrieval, and processing of patient, with limited assistance, as needed. (IV)
5. Assist the technologist in performing selected sonographic examinations in the clinical setting. (V)
6. Under limited supervision, create diagnostic images. (VI)
7. Under limited supervision, utilize appropriate techniques to correct equipment limitations. (VI)
