Description: Application of the dental hygiene process of care with emphasis on diverse populations. Students prepare for clinical practice using self assessment, evaluation and critical thinking skills



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Prepare and present complex dental hygiene care plans for patients with special needs. (I)
2. Provide dental hygiene therapy for patients with special needs. (II)
3. Detect and remove moderate to heavy calculus deposits on patients with moderate to advanced periodontitis. (II)
4. Demonstrate clinical behaviors necessary for entry into dental hygiene practice. (III)
5. Integrate self assessment skills to assure and improve quality in patient care. (IV)
6. Evaluate the outcomes of dental hygiene therapy and provide recommendations for continued care. (V)
7. Integrate ethical, legal and regulatory principles into clinical practice. (VI)
8. Integrate ethical, legal and regulatory principles into clinical practice. (VI)
