Description: Study of the manufacture of structural steel and its application in the construction field. Includes study of plates, girders, roof trusses, latticed girders, and beams. Emphasis on drawing and detailing of erection plans and diagrams using board and/or CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) skills and techniques



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify and describe various structural steel members, sizes, shapes, and uses. (I, II)
2. Identify and describe types of steel connections commonly used in construction industry. (III)
3. Using board and/or CAD drafting equipment, draw various steel detailing, steel connections, and steel reinforced concrete members. (III, IV, V)
4. Identify and describe various steel reinforced concrete structural members. (IV)
5. Using drafting equipment, draw various steel reinforced concrete members and connection details. (IV)
