Description: Exploration, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of the role of dance in various cultures around the world.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Trace the migration of peoples throughout the world and establish choreometric links. (I)
2. Explain the relationship of dance to the expression of value systems in world culture. (II)
3. Illustrate how dance reflects differing views of sex roles in various cultures. (II)
4. Analyze the differences and similarities between the dances of Judeo-Christian culture and those of the Orient. (III)
5. Analyze the differences and similarities between the dances of Judeo-Christian culture and those of Africa. (III)
6. Analyze the differences and similarities between the dances of Judeo-Christian culture and those of the Mid-East. (III)
7. Analyze the differences and similarities between the dances of Judeo-Christian culture and those of Native Americans. (III)
8. Assess the ways in which dances of the world add to the richness of the human tapestry. (IV)
