1. Select proper oil grades, viscosities, and additive packages for Caterpillar engines. (I)
2. Measure and evaluate temperatures and pressures throughout the oil and air systems of an operating engine. (II) 3. Calculate coolant temperature and pressure differential across an engine or radiator. (III) 4. Evaluate horsepower and fuel rates. (IV) 5. Determine the effects on a mechanically governed engine`s set point, horsepower, and boost caused by changing fuel settings, high idle, and timing. (V) 6. Measure and adjust dynamic timing advance on a mechanically governed engine. (V) 7. Explain the principles of failure analysis, and describe the habits and methods of experienced troubleshooters. (VIII) 8. Using lab exercises sheets, identify machine controls, locate and identify engine components, hydrostatic components, power train and hydraulic components on the various (CCE) Compact Construction Equipment machine available for the course. (IX) 9. Explain the function of major Lexion Combine components, flow of material through the combine; locate and identify major combine components; and explain the differences between the six Lexion Combine models. (X) 10. Locate and identify components related to the pilot system, hydraulic pump and pump control system, hydraulic control valve, swing control system, travel control system and the electronic control system. Trace oil flow through the various systems and perform testing and adjusting procedures as outlined in the unit. | |||
