Description: Designed to assist students in developing confidence in making personal, social, and educational decisions. Examination and assessment of individual needs, interests, abilities and values to develop and strengthen interpersonal communication, enhance transitional skills and identify realistic life planning goals



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Define the terms and describe the process of life planning. (I)
2. List choices for dealing with change and the personal tools available for dealing with change. (II)
3. Identify specific personal skills and relate these skills to life situations. (II)
4. Utilize problem solving techniques including campus and community support systems and networking skills. (II, III)
5. Explain the difference between interests and abilities. (III)
6. Identify personal values and value conflicts. (III)
7. Identify personal obstacles to decision-making and establish strategies for personal enhancement. (IV)
8. Evaluate personal behavior and report improved self understanding. (IV)
9. Establish long-range goals and objectives for the enhancement of personal life. (I, V)
10. Identify and use effective interpersonal communication skills. (VI)
