Description: Offered to orient new students to college life. Emphasis on assessing students` academic potential, facilitating curricular advisement and registration procedures, learning academic survival skills, and becoming aware of all services available to students on campus and in the community.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Use specific education terminology related to the college environment. (I, III, IV)
2. Locate student and instructional support services on campus. (II, III, V)
3. Design class schedule using the course catalog, schedule of classes, and support staff. (I, IV)
4. Apply time management skills to create a schedule which includes study time. (I, IV, V)
5. Build a support system to reinforce educational goals. (V)
6. Develop effective study skills. (V)
7. Utilize effective test-taking strategies. (V)
8. Establish specific educational goals. (V)
9. Identify the relationship between participation in campus activities and educational success. (V)
