Description: Introduction to the field of Behavioral Health Professionals including exposure to basic counseling skills



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe role, function, and responsibility of a behavioral health professional. (I, III, IV, V)
2. Explain the impact of the helper`s personal values, beliefs, attitudes, biases, and feelings on the helping process. (II)
3. Apply key legal and ethical principles to the role of the licensed and non-licensed professional. (III)
4. Analyze the helping process. (II, IV, V)
5. Describe types of group processes and settings. (V)
6. Identify and describe a variety of delivery methods used in educational and therapeutic settings. (VI)
