Description: Exploration of the pharmacology of substance of abuse and dependency. Examines the effects of psychopharmacological chemicals on human physiology. Emphasis on identification and management of substances of abuse and dependency.

2. Define homeostasis and explain how various categories of substances of abuse alter homeostasis. (I, II, III, IV)
3. Describe how human physiological systems are affected by various categories of substances of abuse. (I, II, III, IV)
4. Classify substances of abuse by pharmacological categories. (IV)
5. Summarize the effects of chronic substance abuse on development. (I, II, III, IV, VI)
6. Explain the physiological effects of detoxification of various categories of substances of abuse. (V)
7. Summarize medical and pharmacological interventions currently used in treating substance abuse and chemical dependency. (V)
