Description: Emphasis on development of alternative photographic processes including technique, aesthetics, and creative imagery. Exploration of various types of non-silver photographic processes including cyanotype, Van Dyke, Polaroid imaging, and others



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Create original images from drawings, photographs, and photograms. (I)
2. Select found images and objects to serve as basis for creative expression. (I)
3. Manipulate original and found images through reticulation, textured screens, bleaching, collage, and solarization to create new and unique art forms. (II)
4. Apply alternative photographic processes to various surfaces such as metal, glass, ceramics, and paper. (III)
5. Apply cyanotype and photo emulsion processes to fiber surfaces to create images. (IV)
6. Apply fabric sensitizers to textiles with emphasis on patterns and design. (IV)
7. Apply Polaroid imaging and light sensitive Inko dye process to various types of paper to produce multicolored images. (IV)
8. Make plates on various metal surfaces through process of photo etching. (IV)
9. Utilize Van Dyke and photographic imagery to create graphic designs on paper and other fibrous materials. (IV)
10. Manipulate photographic surface through the use of various techniques such as total and selective toning. (IV)
