Description: Basic ramp safety procedures for airline employees. Topics include ramp environment, engine safety, equipment malfunctions, vehicle operations and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) control. Procedures for arrival, turnaround and departure conditions and hazards covered. Hand signals and other non-verbal communications as well as back injury prevention and hearing conservation techniques included

7. Identify rules for backing and parking ramp vehicles. (I)
8. Summarize procedures for dealing with ground equipment and motor vehicles. (I)
9. Identify common hazards in dealing with aircraft arrival and turnaround. (I)
10. Identify safety conditions and procedures when executing aircraft departure. (I)
11. Explain safety precautions for lifting and hearing. (I)
12. Describe the criteria for good hand signals. (II)
13. Demonstrate hand signals used in giving direction, information, and requests. (II)
14. Identify non-verbal signals used to enhance communication on the ramp. (II)
15. Explain the use of hand signal combinations. (II)
