Description: Beginning landscape design with emphasis on developing drawing and drafting skills needed to create freehand drawings, landscape graphics, detail views, symbols, legends, lettering specifications and drafting standards. Introduction to basic principles of landscape design.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify and use drafting equipment. (I)
2. Develop and use a professional lettering style. (II)
3. Develop and apply freehand sketching techniques. (III)
4. Use templates to develop symbol graphics. (IV)
5. Determine the proper scale to use in drawing a landscape design. (VI)
6. Determine the information needed to develop a plot plan, including local codes and ordinances. (VII)
7. Describe the use of simple landscape compliments. (VIII)
8. Identify and use graphics for plants. (VIII)
9. Write a set so specifications for a landscape design. (IX)
10. Develop and draw the necessary information on the legend. (X)
11. Prepare working drawing for a landscape, ready for blue lining, and including plat plan, legend, and title. (XI)
12. Use basic design principles to develop a complete residential landscape plan. (XII)
