Description: Construction of cabinets including: terminology, tools, safety, types of wood, glues, joints, layout, cutting, assembly, hardware, plastic laminates and installation procedures

1. List terms and definitions used in cabinetry, identify the tools used in cabinet construction and describe their safe use. (I)
2. Identify and select basic woods used to build cabinets and the specific glues used to join the woods together. (II, III)
3. Describe specific types of joints used in cabinet making and describe the layout, cutting and assembling of materials for case construction. (IV, VI)
4. List and describe the use of nails, screws and miscellaneous fasteners used in cabinet construction. (V)
5. Identify specific cabinet hardware and select for correct use. (VII)
6. Describe the construction of drawers, shelves and doors. (VIII, IX)
7. Describe plastic laminate, its uses and the procedure for installation. (X)
8. Describe the procedure for installing completed cabinets and counter tops. (XI, XII)
9. List the type of clamps used in cabinet making and describe their use. (XIII)
