Description: Introduction to skin services in the beauty industry. Focus on knowledge and skills of providing skin services on actual clients in a salon setting.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Apply proper safety and sanitation practices including infection control and first aid in compliance with the BCB. (I, II)
2. Communicate in a culturally responsive manner to build trust and rapport with clients, colleagues, work teams and various industry professionals. (I, II)
3. Employ personal wellness strategies. (I, II)
4. Identify the basic needs in human relations. (I, II)
5. Apply knowledge of fundamental science concepts, including anatomy, chemistry, microbiology, and physiology when performing services. (I, II)
6. Evaluate client needs through consultation, within the scope of practice, to educate clients, define design considerations and decisions, and determine appropriate tools and products needed to achieve the desired results. (I, II)
7. Accurately document services performed, including service releases, client treatment records, and service incidences in accordance with industry and BCB standards. (I, II)
8. Create proper skin care services using the fundamental concepts of skin care theory and application, including hair removal and makeup application in basic and advanced skin care services. (I-II)
9. Apply skills learned on mock and live models in a salon setting. (II)
