Description: Provides the foundational aspects of data center fundamentals, data center compliance, operations, and physical infrastructure. Introduces mission critical operations (MCOs) as they apply to data centers. Includes an overview of the physical components of a data center, its interoperability, and the usage of data center equipment.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe "mission-critical mindset" (MCM) including examples of relative MCM behaviors. (I) 2. Navigate through several drill scenarios as a first responder. (I) 3. Describe the major electrical and mechanical components found in a data center, their purpose, classification, and how they are inter-connected. (II) 4. Diagram the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) double-conversion theory. (II) 5. Describe the various fire suppression systems found in data centers. (II) 6. Describe standard maintenance practices on data center equipment. (II) 7. Identify general safety best practices in a data center along with donning personal protective equipment (PPE) and interpreting arc flash labels. (III) 8. Identify proper security measures and protocols used in data centers. (IV) 9. Calculate the required airflow in a data center based on load. (V) 10. Discuss energy concepts relatable to data center efficiency. (V) 11. Identify the basics of working at the physical telecom layer. (VI) 12. Describe environmental and system monitory systems in a data center. (VII) 13. Describe protocols such as manual of procedures (MOP) and standard operating procedures (SOP). (VIII) 14. Interpret documentation types, including basis of design, sequence of operations, commissioning documents, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings. (IX)
