Description: Prepares students for AppleCare Hardware Certification exams for MacOS computer models and to perform warranty-level hardware repairs.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify the characteristics and operating system compatibility of different Mac operating system (MacOS) computer models. (I)
2. Install the MacOS on computers. (II)
3. Manage user accounts, migration data and set up permissions in MacOS. (II, III, VI)
4. Administer built-in security features and functions of the MacOS. (IV)
5. Differentiate file system issues in MacOS. (V)
6. Diagnose issues with a malfunctioning System Management Controller (SMC). (VII)
7. Backup MacOS to create, restore, manage and secure data. (VII)
8. Apply methods to maximize battery life, safe handling of batteries, and safety precautions for a MacOS device. (VII, XI)
9. Resolve network related issues. (VIII)
10. Deploy troubleshooting tools and related procedures. (IX)
11. Resolve startup issues. (X)
12. Service various MacOS computer models. (XI)
