1. Collect and interpret data from the medicodental history, extra-oral and intra-oral examination, radiographs, periodontal and dental assessments for clinic patients. (I)
2. Review rationale for referring patients to appropriate healthcare providers based on interpretation of clinical data. (I, II) 3. Create and present dental hygiene care plans to include proper appointment sequencing. (II) 4. Demonstrate clinic emergency protocols. (III) 5. Educate and include patients as co-therapists in oral disease prevention. (IV) 6. Determine instrument sharpness. (IV) 7. Detect and remove light to moderate deposits on patients with slight periodontitis. (IV) 8. Provide dental hygiene care for patients from diverse populations. (IV) 9. Apply selected caries preventive agents. (IV) 10. Apply selected desensitizing agents. (IV) 11. Demonstrate selective polishing using appropriate agents. (IV) 12. Utilize computer technology in patient care. (V) 13. Apply Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) standards of infection control and safety to protect the patient and operator.
