Description: Advanced language instruction for English language learners to further develop proficiency in academic and professional listening, speaking, reading, and writing with an introduction to information literacy. Emphasizes integrated reading and writing skills for use in research and presentation.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Evaluate multimodal, oral, and written texts for rhetorical contexts and patterns. (I, II) 2. Demonstrate comprehension of authentic multimodal, oral, and written texts, including academic, informal/social, and professional texts with a large degree of independence. (I-VII) 3. Engage in conversation on academic, professional, and social/cultural topics with an appropriate degree of fluency and spontaneity to allow for constructive interactions. (I-VII) 4. Produce language, including level-appropriate grammatical structures and vocabulary, within the context of multimodal, oral, and written projects. (I-VII) 5. Use a recursive writing process to compose at least two one authentic multi-paragraph academic texts with a clear central idea and supporting evidence using appropriate digital technologies. (I-VII)
