Description: High-intermediate language instruction for English language learners to build proficiency in academic and professional listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Focuses on integrated reading and writing skills.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Examine high-intermediate multimodal, oral, and written texts for rhetorical contexts and patterns. (I-VI)
2. Reference high-intermediate source materials to enhance multimodal, oral, and written projects. (I-VI)
3. Demonstrate comprehension of high-intermediate multimodal, oral, and written texts, including academic, informal/social, and professional texts with peer and instructor support. (I-VI)
4. Produce language, including level-appropriate grammatical structures and vocabulary, within the context of multimodal, oral, and written projects. (I-VI)
5. Present an oral project that addresses a current social phenomena with a linear sequence of points using appropriate technologies and presentation aids. (I-VI)
6. Use a recursive writing process to compose at least two one authentic multi-paragraph academic texts on topics of interest using appropriate technologies. (I-VI)
