Description: Beginning language skills for English language learners to develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Emphasizes integrated reading and writing skills.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Use beginning-level language examples as a guide to produce multimodal, oral, and written activities. (I-V)
2. Demonstrate comprehension of beginning-level, student-relevant multimodal, oral, and written texts about familiar topics with peer and instructor support. (I-V)
3. Recognize familiar everyday expressions and phrases and use them with appropriate degree of fluency to allow for constructive interactions. (I-V)
4. Produce language, including level-appropriate grammatical structures and vocabulary, within the context of multimodal, oral, and written activities. (I-V)
5. Use a recursive writing process to compose a paragraph-length text on familiar topics using appropriate technology. (I-V)
