Description: Applies Nurse of the Future competencies and clinical judgment measures to practice and manage care for the child/family unit and adults requiring complex care throughout the wellness/illness continuum, and prepare for transition from student to professional nurse.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Integrate the nursing process and clinical judgment measures by caring and advocating for individualized patient needs with a focus on pediatric and medical-surgical patients with complex health care needs. (I) 2. Practice within regulatory, legal and ethical frameworks of professional nursing, and plan for transition to professional nurse. (II) 3. Practice nursing leadership skills with patients and groups utilizing delegation, prioritization, and time management strategies. (III) 4. Demonstrate navigation of microsystem and macrosystem as a provider and manager of patient care. (IV) 5. Integrate personal and team utilization of technology and information management in healthcare settings. (V) 6. Integrate therapeutic communication and comprehensive, individualized teaching and/or discharge planning for patient needs with a focus on pediatric and/or medical-surgical patients with complex health care needs. (VI) 7. Assimilate into the professional nurse role as a patient care provider and healthcare team member to provide comprehensive patient care. (VII) 8. Practice established safety protocols and plans for selected clinical skills and procedures to provide quality nursing care. (VIII) 9. Evaluate patient care provided against current quality care standards/indicators. (IX) 10. Deliver patient care consistent with evidence-based practice. (X)
