Description: The objective of this course is to provide hands-on experience in the creation of a theatrical production. This course is tailored around the work done in a Theatre Scenic Shop. Structured to provide the student with an atmosphere of professional expertise and guidance. Professional-type facilities and equipment are made available for student use.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Evaluate and select the proper materials and fasteners for scenic construction. (I)
2. Collaborate with professional theatre shop crew assisting in the production process on mainstage productions. (II)
3. Demonstrate use of safety procedures for shop, rigging, and handling scenic elements. (I-IV)
4. Perform tasks accurately and safely to construct scenic elements for a mainstage production. (III, IV)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
