Description: Theory and practice of Hip Hop dance at the intermediate level. Development of movement quality and improvisation skills. Dance training for personal skill development and interest.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate correct placement and alignment for dance. (I,II)
2. Use locomotor and axial movements in the center and across the floor. (II,III)
3. Utilize components of dance techniques, theories, styles and improvisation. (I-IV)
4. Utilize the theory of the body`s relationship to gravity and the center of gravity used in Hip Hop dance. (I-IV)
5. Practice the basic elements of dance: space, time and energy. (I-IV)
6. Use basic rhythmic analysis to demonstrate the impact of polyrhythms and syncopation on Hip Hop dance. (IV)
