Description: Introduction to the study of dance as culture in diverse global contexts.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Analyze the elements of dance used across selected global dance forms. (I-V)
2. Describe how patterns of human migration and innovations in technology influence selected global dance forms. (I-V)
3. Compare various functions of dance across selected global dance forms. (I-V)
4. Explain the role of dance as an expression of the value systems of various cultures around the world. (I-V)
5. Investigate how gender roles have impacted selected global dance forms over time. (I-V)
6. Compare the impact of socio-political and economic forces across selected global dance forms. (I-V)
7. Analyze the impact of presentational choices across selected global dance forms. (I-V)
8. Interpret the ways in which dances of the world add to the richness of the human experience. (I-V)
