1. Distinguish diagnostic categories of the major serious mental illnesses and describe characteristic symptoms of each. (I, III)
2. Assess signs and symptoms of addictions and substance use for persons with co-occurring disorders. (I-V) 3. Compare and contrast philosophies and evidence-based practices for assessing, diagnosing, and treating co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders. (II-V) 4. Evaluate approaches to intervention and treatment of co-occurring disorders through a multicultural framework. (II-V) 5. Evaluate factors that increase and decrease the likelihood of relapse for persons with co-occurring disorders. (II-V) 6. Develop programs aimed at harm reduction using evidence-based practices. (II-V) 7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to address the needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders. (III-V) 8. Develop appropriate treatment plans and interventions for substance use disorders or addictions. (IV, V) 9. Synthesize harm reduction principles, policies, programs, and practices that aim to reduce the adverse health, social, and economic consequences of the use of legal and illegal drugs. (IV, V) | |||
